Taste: The oil –peat-barley balance is spot on as is the bitter sweet tone: just stunning.

Ileach Cask
Ileach Cask Strength – 58% Vol
Score: 97 out of 100 in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.
Amazingly, my tasting notes for the weaker version are exactly the same as for this sea facing monster. Except here the enormity has risen up by a significant factor, as has the intensity of each vital cog in its make-up. Perhaps the only change is the honey thread to the sweetness that pervades throughout. Otherwise, identical. A wonderous, take it with you when you die malt that is easily a contender for whisky of the year.
Jim Murray awarded The Ileach Cask Strength the number two position in the 2008 & 2009 World Whisky of the Year category in his Whisky Bible. This is judged from over 3,400 whiskies!

Nose: fresh figs and moist barley, a hint of clove.
Taste: The nose tells you what’s coming and there is no disappointment: massive malt surge, mouthwatering and refreshing.
Finish: beautifully textured finish as the barley unites with the light oak.
Comment – “The sheer brilliance of this whisky is its simplicity. Limited colouring interference and a severe lack of sherry means that the barley can do as it pleases and pleases it does.”

Spanish Red Awarded Top 100 Wines in Vancouver!
January 6, 2012
A True Winner!
The results are in and the Ebano 6 has been awarded one of the top 100 wines in this year’s Vancouver Magazine International Wine Competition. Over 1000 wines were entered into this prestigious competition and we are honored that our Spanish red has been chosen.
Grown in the Ribera del Duero region, which is one of Spain’s fastest developing wine regions located half way between Madrid and Santander, The stunning Ébano 6 is made from 100% Tempranillo, known locally as Tinto del Pais, with an average vine age of 20 years. It has a vibrant purple colour with intense fruit notes of ripe cherries, mulberries and raspberries. The wood is well integrated and keeps alive the earlier fruit as well as adding toasty aromas.
Ébano 6 spends 4 months in French oak and has great fruity structure, and a powerful finish. Ebano in Spanish means “Ebony” Hence the dark packaging and dark color of the wine itself!
This wine is available at select private and government stores throughout B.C. For more information on this fantastic red please email Marcus at Marcus@vonalbrecht.com

Always one of the most popular events!
In this very special Master Class, guests will have the opportunity to Indulge in two of life’s greatest pleasures: scotch and chocolate! This guided tasting will pair 3 rare single malt scotches with 3 handcrafted single origin chocolates (from Xoxolat). Each chocolate will bring out the unique profiles of its paired scotch. Two examples of this pairing include a 14yr old Speyside malt, full of sherry, leather and orange spice, paired with Earl Grey, orange and cinnamon truffle as well as a deep, powerful, salty, smokey Islay scotch matched with a triple smoked, maple caramelized bacon milk chocolate. Yum Yum. Sit back & enjoy the wonderful balance of smoky sweetness and salty goodness! This class sells out on the first day so book NOW!
